August Week 1
Maiden Dual
Conquistadora and Taylor Jordan
Wild Determination and Kelly Maccabee
Wild Determination and Kelly Maccabee
Taylor was out on the dirt track with her first horse and her main love, Conquistadora. Dora was quite fiery this morning. She still had yet to break her maiden but she had a bunch of potential. Taylor felt all of her races were only maturing her more and more as the weeks went on. She was gaining plenty of experience as a two year old. Taylor had a special bond with her. She was the only one Dora would allow to ride her.
Raven rode out on the striking gray mare Wild Determination. Destiny was a beautiful mount. Nagging injuries had kept her from the track in earlier years. This was her time to shine. She wasn't too experienced but she was a wonderful addition to Sugarhill. Raven had no trouble at all with the sweet mare. They trotted up to Taylor and Dora.
Taylor gave Raven a smile. "Both of these ladies are looking good today. It should be a good run." she said. "How far are we going?" Raven asked. Taylor thought for a minute. "Five furlongs will do these girls some good." They got the horses up to a canter. They were nearing the five furlong marker. It would be a nice breeze. They needed it to stretch their legs.
Once they shot out, Destiny rushed on to the lead. Dora was a closer so she hung back in wait. She let the mare fly ahead a couple lengths. It was a chance to let the mare feel high and mighty. Dora was smart. She would make her move when Destiny least expected it. They went around the turn. Destiny was a fireball out front. Raven urged her on at a faster pace as they headed into the stretch.
Destiny seemed to have it in the bag. She didn't stay alone for long. Dora reached her flank with determination. She was clearly running down the older mare. Neck and neck, Destiny wasn't going to let up so easily. She gave the filly a good run, but Dora got her by a neck at the finish. They both needed this workout. They would break their maidens soon.

It would be a three horse run. They were all black. One was a colt and he was two years old and the other two were three year old fillies. Taylor wanted to make it to where she didn't have to do so many workouts. So she felt putting the three horses in one workout would be good.
Raven rode Houdini out onto the turf course. They were the only ones out at the moment.
