The horses were ready to go. Tropez was going to teach the young fillies how it was done. Kelly had a good hold on him. He cantered ahead of the other two. His height seemed to tower over both, but he didn't have much of an advantage on Shanna. The black filly was well over 17 hands high. It was the dark gray filly who stood out in height. Raven loved riding the little horse. She felt Nancy was a champion in the making. She caught up to her half brother, nipping at his flank.
Tropez got startled. He let out a snort and darted his hindquarters from her reach. Raven patted Nancy on the neck, shaking her head with a smile. The filly was incredibly dominant. She got bored easily. She had the same personality as Raven. They were a perfect match. Soon Taylor and Shanna caught up with them and they all headed out at a canter.
The horses warmed up extremely well. Once it was time for them to run the girls let them go on their own. Shanna took the early lead. Taylor was ready to get the filly into a race. It had been two months since she was last on the track. It was time for her to run again. She stayed on the lead as they reached the turn. Kelly hand rode Tropez up to her side. Nancy wasn't far behind.
The three horses came around that turn at great speed. Kelly got Tropez just a nostril ahead of Shanna and Taylor. The black filly wasn't going to let up. She was going to put up a fight. Nancy was just reaching her when she kicked it into another gear and shot past Tropez. Taylor let her go. She flashed down the stretch and to the wire. Past it they went. Nancy missed the second spot by a neck to Tropez. It was a great run for them all.
