July Week 2
Back With Vengeance
Tears Of An Angel and Taylor Jordan
Lucy was back with vengeance. The vet had cleared her to run. She had become extremely dominant and bored over the past few weeks. She was plum tired of being cooped up in the stall all day, every day. Taylor already had her entered into a race for July Week 3. It was the Cancer Stakes. So far, the only other entrant was her twin brother, Tears of Blood. Why not? It would be a spectacular race with the two of them. Taylor felt it was the perfect pick me up race for the mare.
The sun was just peeking over the horizon. Taylor had Lucy out on the dirt course. The little mare had her head bowed, foam escaping from her mouth. She was ready for anything. She was ready to take down anything that would stand in her way. She was a little red firecracker ready to be set off and be free. Taylor rode quietly. This was a megastar mare. She was glad she didn't have to retire her. She wanted to run her on through Breeders Cup. Then, the mare would be retired to stand in the broodmare barn. It was where she belonged.
Lucy trotted along the outside rail. Her muscles rippled under her skin with every stride. Her copper coat glistened in the morning sunlight. Fog gathered along the nearby turf course. It traveled off onto the dirt course. It didn't bother her. She just powered through it. She still had yet to lift her head, but she knew where she was going. She knew what was in front of her. Open track.
Taylor urged her up into a canter. She mare obeyed and jumped into an extended canter. She had such a long stride for being a smaller horse. She seemed to dance along the rail like a ballerina. She was a beautifully graceful mover. Through the gap, Taylor turned her to the inside rail. She reached down to run her fingers through the mare's red locks. They were silky smooth.
"Are you ready girl?" Taylor asked her. Lucy responded with a snort. "Now!" With that Lucy sprung into action. She thundered down the track along the rail. It would be a flashy seven furlongs. She darted down the rear straight away. Taylor gave her as much rein as she needed. She ran like a champion. She ran like she had never run before. She was back. Back with more incredible speed. Back with more strength, charisma, and energy. She was set to dominate the tracks, once again.
They headed into the turn. Lucy just sprinted along the rail. Once she caught sight of the open stretch in front of her, she was off into another gear. The only sound heard was the thunder of the beautiful Thoroughbred's hooves as she raced down the stretch, fighting to get to the wire as quick as she could. It wasn't long till she got there. The work reminded Taylor of how lucky she was to have this horse in her presence. She was lucky to have gotten her hands on a horse like this. Back to the track they would go. This girl was ready to run.

Magic In The Air
Black Magic and Raven Stone
The big black colt looked stunning out on the turf course this fine morning. Raven felt a little tired but riding the perky colt kept her wide awake. She reached down to pat his neck as he trotted along. He seemed to be a little sluggish, but he was just waiting for his run. He wanted to shine. The sunrise was a beautiful sight in the distance. It opened Raven's eyes just a little bit more.
Around the track they went. The beautiful young horse had a long and lanky stride. Still with only one win on his record, Taylor had a feeling he would pull another one in real soon. She was trying to keep his races small. This was going to be his first workout since he arrived at Sugarhill. He had a much needed rest, but it was time for him to show his stuff.
Raven urged the young colt to the inside rail. Even before she could give command he dashed out at a fast gallop. He ran like he was on fire. The turf was still misted with morning dew, but he didn't mind. He loved the wet surface. He pulled away as they came into the turn. Raven could feel the mass of muscle beneath her. This colt was special. He extended out and pushed on down the stretch. He wasn't letting up.
They passed the wire and he still had plenty left in the tank. Raven didn't feel tired anymore. She knew this was a great colt here. He was going to get some wins in. She just knew it. He had a lot to prove and still had plenty of growing up to do.
